The Evolution of Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement in the modern day became a common organized activity that is being imposed in the society as a whole to maintain public order. It has different systems across countries to suit the differences of needs of the people. However, before the enforcement of the law came up in its current position in the society, the evolution of this has a long history.
In the ancient days, there was no official system of law enforcement. The individuals were the ones who were responsible for maintaining order for themselves. According to Roufa (2017), ancient clans imposed the idea of laws for the benefit of the family member. In case one of them was harmed by the other clans, the idea of law was not to prevent crime but to put up revenge.
In ancient Egypt, many believed that the enforcement of law was based on common sense of what is right or wrong and the idea of the balance, justice, order, and truth in the universe. However, because of this basis, the Egyptians’ view in Justice was somewhat cruel. The punishment for an individual was commonly executed in its entire family (Andrews and Dunn).

The idea of this system is that the ancient families and clans should be responsible for the actions and behaviors of their family members. They should be the ones who would be responsible for their own protection. Just like any other ancient civilizations, the idea of law was being linked in revenge when family or clan member was harmed by the other clan. This revenge can lead to lengthy conflicts between families and in worst case, can completely obliterate the entire families.
