The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal and that they are guaranteed certain unalienable rights. In the Book Fahrenheit 451, Captain Beatty makes the assertion that people are rather made equal. This is why Beatty believes in the idea of burning the books, so that no man has more power or knowledge than another. In Beatty’s eyes, to be equal everyone must follow the same rules of the society they live in. However, I believe that everyone is created equal, and with the rights that everybody is given, you may choose for yourself how to act and how to succeed in society.

Jefferson’s purpose is to advocate for the separation of Britain and the colonies in order to escape the British tyranny that King George imposes on the American colonists. If it weren’t for Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence, America would look so much different than it is right now. Who knows if the United States would even exist. Arguably, if Jefferson hadn’t written the Declaration, is someone else had, it wouldn’t have been as strong. And possibly, the new colony would have needed to wait longer to become independent, if they became independent at all. But Jefferson’s strong rhetorical appeals help persuade his audience that new colony deserves independent, and his use of allusions contribute greatly to his argument, making his appeals powerful and capture the attention of his audience, and to get them to agree with him.
In Thomas Jefferson’s “Declaration of Independence,” he uses rhetorical devices to convey his purpose which is to say that colonies have decided to break their bond with the King and Great Britain and to explain their reasoning. One of the devices used the most to convey his purpose was parallelism. Jefferson also uses repetition to make his reasons clear. Some might think that his use of restatement further makes his points clear; however, they are wrong. Jefferson uses rhetorical devices like parallelism and repetition to explain the reasonings of the Colonists decision to break their bonds with the King and Britain.

Of the three modes of persuasion, logos is definitely one of the most important. Logos plays off of the logic that something contains and how well the supporting informations relates to the thesis. The Declaration of Independence is an extremely important document to the United States. Thomas Jefferson receives the most credit for writing the declaration, however he was assisted by five other men that were apart of the Constitutional Congress. They wrote the declaration to persuade the colonist to break free from Britain. Parallelism is “a pattern in writing in which words and phrases are similar in structure, one echoing another.”

A committee promptly formed to draft and write the Declaration in response to many grievances against British rule. Thomas Jefferson, a member of the Continental Congress, was chosen to write the important piece. He included personal insight of the committees’ mind, adding their ideas and reasonably listening to other’s ideas.

In his speech, Abraham Lincoln utilizes alliteration, in his first sentence, “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth”, he uses the same sound in “Four score”, “fathers”, and “forth”, he does this to reinforce the meaning, it unifies his ideas, and helps him introduce the topic he is going to talk about. He talks about what the country was founded on, which is equality.
Throughout my whole life, I have always been sort of a lone wolf. As a child of two immigrant parents, I have often felt the struggle of feeling alone and without guidance in American society. Both of my parents are Mexican immigrants that came into this country during the 1990’s looking for a better place to start a family. Ever since I was a young boy, my parents have repeatedly told me that being a hard worker and taking school seriously were going to be vital ideals that I needed to follow to achieve success. Neither of my parents had the opportunity to study at an institution of higher education, and their dream had always been for their son to be the first in their family to do so.
