If their works were referenced to another modern work such as how Foster uses Rocky and Bullwinkle for example. The connotation behind the two references brings about a different feeling towards the work. Saying when a work is related to Shakespeare gives off a sophisticated tone and is much more respected then saying a work is referenced to a silly name like Rocky and Bullwinkle. In other words, the significance of detecting references to Shakespeare’s works brings about sophistication and a deeper knowledge of the character. The author references Shakespeare due to being universally known and having a highly respected

The interpretation is important to the story because it shows that the perception of a person is not always who they are, leading to the realization that it is necessary to not be blinded by first
Finally, the Shakespeare tells that simple or big things people do, it can cause horrible damage. All of these details are significant because it is
Throughout both plays, dramatic irony is used to portray the protagonists as tragic heroes and deliver their meanings as a whole. The heroes are not necasarilly aware of these events of dramatic irony, but they are apparent to the audience. One example is when Oedipus refused to believe Teiresias the blind prophet about the truth of his actions and the prophecy. Oedipus called him a “… sightless, witless, senseless, mad old man,” when ironically Oedipus , “with both [his] eyes”, was the one blind to the prophecy and the severity of his actions (Act1.
The movie ties in more brutality and violence to appeal to a modern audience that demands intense appeal to the senses. The play uses the simplicity of setting elements such as the balcony and common acting techniques to communicate Shakespear’s original message. Given the time period of the text, Shakepear’s use of these strategies are as modern as those unique techniques used in the movie. The movie and the play attract their audiences based on what appeals to them. Most importantly, both deliver the message to the audience that “For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her
This is the first example of dramatic irony, which in this play happens mostly because of the difference in time periods of when the play was set and
Horatio explains what happened when the ambassador from England and Fortinbras, after his battles in Poland, arrive to witness the aftermath of the deaths in Denmark. The juxtaposition of “carnal”, “unnatural”, “slaughters”, “cunning”, “cause”, “purposes”, and “inventors’” with “came about”, “accidental”, “casual”, “mistook”, and “Fall’n” sets up the intentional vs. accidental imagery. The imagery serves to explain the nature of the tragedy that events do not always occur as planned and that there is a divine force that leads the event as opposed to human intentions. Chaos leads to a disruption in the natural order which must be fixed was an important theme in the Elizabethan era, where a rigid social structure existed. The imagery also reinforces
This is especially true when analyzing the works of Shakespeare. In some instances, however, he chooses elements that are less natural and more human to prove a point. During Macbeth, Malcolm and Ross mention that there is an influx of disease in Scotland, and that there is a king in England who is magically healing the sick. This sickness in Scotland, the country of Macbeth, is a metaphor for both the current and iminent unrest in the country. Shakespeare writes “...be called our mother, but our grave, where nothing…\Where sighs and groans and shrieks that rent the air\Are made, not marked; where violent sorrow seems…\The dead man’s knell\Is there scarce asked for who, and good men’s lives…\Dying or ere they sicken” (IV.iii.191-198).
Dramatic irony grabs the attention of the audience by adding more suspense. Soliloquies let the audience know the feelings and thoughts of a character, making them more attentive. Allusions give the audience something to think about and this makes them feel more involved. Overall, William Shakespeare’s marvelous job of the use of literary devices in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet will add to his legacy, not to forget, the title of greatest English-playwright does him
Christopher Pike once said, “Nothing is as it seems. Black can appear white when the light is blinding but white loses all luster at the faintest sign of darkness.” Pike tackled the idea of appearance versus reality just as Shakespeare does in Macbeth. Through the use of both figurative language and irony, William Shakespeare successfully conveys the theme—nothing is as it seems—in his play, Macbeth. Among the plethora of figurative devices in Macbeth are alliteration and antithesis.
Shakespeare was a famous author and poet that wrote extremely well-known texts, such as “Romeo and Juliet” and “Hamlet.” Shakespeare lived during the Renaissance when art and science advanced and he was one of the major contributors to this historical period. “Shakespeare Influences the way we speak now” by Hephzibah Anderson, “William Shakespeare’s Impact on Theatre” by Octane, and “How Outrage Built Over a Shakespearean Depiction of Trump” by Sara Krulwich suggest that Shakespeare had a great influence on many aspects of society, such as the phrases we use, style of theater, and is a figure of inspiration to many people. Shakespeare has contributed to many well-known phrases that are still used to this day, showing his significance in history.
In the twenty-first century, the plays of William Shakespeare may at first appear dated and irrelevant: they use archaic language, are set in the age of Kings and Queens, and the Kingdom of England. However, it would be plainly mistaken to construe that Shakespeare’s works do not still remain integral to a twenty-first century society. Shakespeare’s plays gave the words and expressions one uses every day, revolutionized the art of theater as it was known, and forewarned about issues that would unknowingly still apply centuries later. Therefore, Shakespeare has had a profound effect on our lives by enriching our language and culture, as well as providing ideas that would still apply five centuries later, and it would thus behoove us to learn from his works and life.
