Entry 1 The main character is a girl named Emmy. She has a best friend named Kim, who died. They decide to meet in the afterlife, and that they would always still be friends. The beginning does not share any details of the setting or location of the book. Will Emmy meet Kim in the afterlife? I believe that she will because if not the story would only be about the journey with no outcome. What caused Kim to die? I think it could have just been a disease or something wrong with her. Entry 2 I have read 27 chapters for the first section of my book. These are the words I didn’t know in this section. Huarache is a leather sandal originally worn by Mexican Indians. An afghan is a wool or knitted blanket in stripes or squares. A matinee is a performance …show more content…
A muumuu is a loose, brightly colored woman's dress, traditionally worn in Hawaii. The word stale appeared in the book multiple times, but it wasn’t resembling food. Stale means no longer able to perform well or because of having to do something for too long. Reverberated means to be repeated several times as echo. Girth is the measurement of the middle of something, in this case a pavilion. Cosmic means to be inconveniently vast. Kim and Emmy visit Dr. Ted Farnsworth, who is presenting afterlife performance. Kim is so excited because she wants Emmy to be able to see her in the afterlife. Emmy gets upset because she Kim continues to say that she’s going to die, in the present part of the book Emmy continues to wait and wait for Kim to come …show more content…
I find this heartbreaking because Emmy was able to see so many dead people at the strip, but none of those people was Kim. In part of this section Emmy and Kim were suppose to watch a movie, but Kim tells her she is sick. Knowing Emmy she did believe this because, well, Kim did have a heart disease. Emmy went to the store with her dad to buy candy when she heard familiar voices in the next aisle. It turned out to be Kim, Gabby, and a bunch of boys. I was thinking ,wow, that's not like Kim at all. I was mad at Kim, but I was more mad at Emmy. I really wanted her to let them see her, and tell Kim that she knew what she did. Throughout the section I kept waiting and waiting for it to tell me if Kim ever found out that Emmy knew, but nothing happened. What made me really sad was when Emmy was visiting Kim, Kim asked her a question. She said, “I’m never gonna die, right, Ems?” That was when Emmy began to walk out,but as soon as that door shut she ran. Those minutes that Emmy was gone, Kim died. She died with out her best friend at her side. Maybe had Emmy just said right, Kim would still be alive. As if Emmy was what was keeping her alive, and when Emmy begin to quit on her Kim didn’t have a reason to live anymore. That made me so sad, I wanted to cry the rest of the
