Censorship in Fahrenheit 451 is the Firemen. Firemen are the enforcers of censorship laws. They are called upon when a person is known to have books in their house. Beatty claims that the firemen are guardians of society, she they protect people from being unhappy. Montag is a fireman, he has been for ten years. Clarisse didn’t expect Montag to be a fireman. The burning of the books put Montag in jail, even though he was a fireman.
