Chapter 9 represents the climax of the story as a result of the main conflicting issues being resolved. However, the main character faces an arguably harder challenge, which adds a turning point to the story. This turning point occurs when Jhonny dies on page 148. This challenge is not only presented to Ponyboy, but it also upsets Dally, another main character which may cause another issue in chapter 10. When Dally first announces “we won,” on page 1400000 he rushes out with Ponyboy to go tell Jhonny. This is an example of one of the main conflicts, the rumble, getting resolved.
