Throughout history there has been many leaders and each and every one them has had an impact on this world.There's been leaders that has made a positive difference and made people's lives better in the process. On the other hand there has been many corrupt leaders who only led a life of deceitfulness and false hope.The leaders doing these things are only doing it for their own personal twisted benefit, masterminds of manipulating people into believing their outlandish ideals. In Arthur Miller's The Crucible displays the battle between good and bad, Reverend Parris and Abigail are the corrupted leaders in the story and how they use their dominance to convince people of the ridiculous accusations. Jim Jones was the leader of The Peoples Temple and was responsible for the death of more than 900 people including children on November 18, 1978.(“Jonestown”) Jones was the leader who seemed of good heart but in reality he was an egotistical person who only wanted power and able to control people for his own benefit. Jones had a way to put a new idea into people's minds that society was corrupted and that by making their own organization that they would be able to escape that world by coming and joining him. He would come up with all sorts of ways into making the people think he was a god to them.”All of the children addressed Jones as “Dad,” undoubtedly a somewhat upsetting experience for their parents to go through. While the adults were in the field, the children stayed at the compound at school. Though Jones valued children.”(Jones) By making the children call him dad it could have been a tactic to gain the followers trust even though they didn't like that idea as much, it gave him the fatherly figure he wanted and it made him seem more trusting.
