“Courage is simply the willingness to be afraid and act anyways” - Dr. Robert Anthony. In courage is one of the main themes. There are many examples of courage in the book. Atticus shows courage in many ways and parts of the book and so do many other characters. In To Kill A Mockingbird Atticus shows courage towards Tom in a couple ways and Boo Radley shows courage.

He knew there were people that were going to be coming there but he went anyways to stand up for Tom. Im sure many people in the town knew that someone would try to harm Tom that night. But no one else went to help or stand up for him. Atticus stood up to car loads of people just to defend a black man.
