Deceit and Trickery William Shakespeare is known for his many play writes, from tragedies, such as Romeo and Juliet, to comedies like Much Ado About Nothing. In Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare shows through his characters actions and dialogue how people can be deceived and tricked into falling in love, or falling out of love. Shakespeare shows audiences how easy it is for deceit and trickery to be carried out. “Love arises when stratagems of eavesdropping make Benedick, Beatrice and Claudio fall either in or out of love, but they do so only because of the speech uttered and the attitude of members of the trio towards it” (Hunt). Shakespeare shows how deceit and trickery can be used for good and evil.
