The Crucible by Arthur Miller takes place in the 16 century during the period of the
Salem witch trails. It was base roughly off of people that lived during that time, and the events that took place. The play is about a group of girls who are led by Abigail Williams who accuse the majority of women in the town of witchcraft. Arthur miller used this story to show people that jealousy lead to destruction.
Love, hatred, and jealousy are frequently shown between John Proctor, Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Proctor. Abigail Williams was orphaned she saw “Indians smash her parent’s heads on the pillow next” to hers (Miller,148) she severed the Proctor’s after there deaths. While
