Through the gruesome conflicts our society has endured, we have been able to resolve it. Disobedience, stated by Oscar Wilde, has always been an effective way that progress has been made. This claim could be greatly supported by the variety of ways that issues has been solving leading up to this period.

Wilde´s claim on disobedience are extremely valid. Through the many issues that society had to face because of a disagreement, rebellion by the people has always been a solution. Thoreau claims that the government is not just and true to all of the people and this is because there is only a few people in the government. He also claims that he has never seen anything close to a government that caters to all of the people. He disobeyed the government by not paying the tax and by doing this, his actions were noticed. This statement employs that government is not perfect and that people need to disobey the government as this results in their actions being heard. This statement also proves that the government is imperfect so it needs people to resist the fallacies of the government so that the government can create a set of laws that the mass can follow .This also applies to a group of people disobeying because when a group disobeys the government, it reflects the common opinion of the masses and while doing this their actions are heard louder. An example of a powerful movement of nonviolence is from Ghandi. His salt march, a peaceful and very effective form of resistance and nonviolence, brought about change for the benefit of the mass. While many may think there are other forms of getting things done, disobedience has been shown to be the only way to get change for the people. This is proven in the speech of the Virginia Convention by Patrick Henry.
