In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George kills Lennie which to some is seen as euthanasia and to others it is murder. From my understanding of the two, I believe that it was murder. Murder is defined as “The unlawful killing of one human being by another, especially with premeditated malice.” While malice was not present in this scenario, the killing of Lennie was premeditated since George had plenty of time between the moment he grabbed Carlson’s Luger to the moment he found Lennie. There were plenty of things George could have decided to do instead of choosing to kill Lennie. For example, they could have run away together, like they had already done in the past.
