What is fear you might ask? Fear is that unpleasant feeling you get when you believe something or someone is dangerous. Many people have different fears. For example, I have a fear of needles and a fear of forgetting. Today you will read about how fear is shown and why it is in Arthur Miller’s play, The Crucible. There are 3 Characters with fears in this play, which is Reverend Parris, Abigail Williams, and Betty Parris .The first character I will be talking about is Reverend Parris. People have been having accusations about witchcraft in the village. Parris fears of his reputation being ruined since he is a Puritan minister in Salem, Massachusetts. To support this, he says to Abigail “But it you trafficked with spirits in the forest I must know it now, for surely my enemies will, and they will ruin me with it.” This shows how Parris is speaking to his niece and kind of blaming situation on her.
