Everyone knows humans don’t always make the best choices. They are known for making quick and foolish decisions that commonly end up with dangerous consequences. This is shown throughout the play Romeo & Juliet by Shakespeare. The play shows how when a person makes quick decisions without thinking first, it doesn’t end up well. Both Romeo and Juliet display how foolish and rash decisions never turn out correctly. In the near beginning of the play, Romeo comes to Friar Laurence asking that he marry Juliet and him the next day. He had just met Juliet at a celebration the night before and they didn’t know anything about one another, other than the fact that they were supposedly in love with each other. As the play states, “Then plainly know my heart’s dear love is set on the fair daughter of rich Capulet...but this I pray, that thou consent to marry us today” (Shakespeare 2. 3. 62-69). Only foolish people would get married after knowing the other person for 1 day. Lots of times when people are going through a tough time or need a little wisdom, they go to someone for help. This is what Juliet did when she had an argument with her parents about being forced to marry Paris. She went to talk to Friar Laurence and when she did, she was a little berzerk. She begged for a solution or else she would kill herself. “Tell me not, friar, that thou hearst of this, unless thou tell me how I may prevent it. If in wisdom thou canst give no help, do thou but call my resolution wise and with this knife I’ll help it presently” (Shakespeare 4. 1. 57-61).” Both Romeo and Juliet were so young, and couldn’t make significant decisions like this one on their own. So they kept going to the Friar for advice. The Friar did have a worthy solution to their problem, but again due to their immatureness and foolishness, the plan obviously did not
