When they first meet, Romeo is in love with her immediately and They both are entranced. Their Love drives a lot of their decisions, such as getting married a day after they meet and having a secret wedding. Not long after their wedding, Romeo is banished and Juliet goes to go visit the Friar. “O, bid me leap, rather than marry Paris, From off the battlements of yonder tower.” Juliet tells the Friar that she would rather kill herself than marry Paris.
Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet want Juliet to get married soon, and with Romeo gone; they arrange Juliet to marry Paris in a few days. Juliet’s parents do not know that she has just recently gotten married to Romeo before he was banished, so that creates some problems with Juliet being forced to marry Paris. Juliet goes to Friar Laurence for advice on her situation because she has no one else to go to for guidance. Friar Laurence gives Juliet a potion to make her seem like she is dead for two days, but she is just in a comma. Juliet is unsure about this plan.
Juliet, daughter of the capulets has asked Romeo to marry her the day after they meet because they are so in love with each other. “Three words, dear Romeo, and good night indeed. If that thy bent of love be honorable, Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow, By one that I’ll procure
During the play, Juliet’s temerity and affinity for impulsive decisions lead herself and those around her to difficult situations. For one, when she and Romeo discuss their love from her balcony, she says to him “I gave thee mine [vow] before thou didst request it/ And yet I would were I to give again”(2.2.135), and in doing so promises herself to Romeo without thought as to what doing so could mean for her. Furthermore, in this statement she implies that she had been thinking about marriage with this guy, glossing over the fact they met the night before.
Unaware of Romeo and Juliet’s relationship, the Capulet parents arrange for Juliet to marry County Paris. Juliet denies the wedding arrangement which starts the path to the death of Romeo and Juliet. Lord Capulet takes offense at his daughter’s denial and says “But, [if] you will not wed, I’ll pardon you!/ Graze where you will, you shall not house with me.” , so Lord Capulet neglects Juliet’s emotions while forcing her to make a difficult decision (3.5.189-90).
In addition to Juliet’s impetuous behavior, after the Capulet party Romeo sneaks onto her balcony and they both plan on getting married the next day “Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow;/ By one that I’ll procure to come to thee;/ Where what time thou wilt perform the rite” (2.2 144-146).
To start, Juliet’s actions are impulsive and self- destructive with far reaching implications for all involved. This is evident when, shortly after meeting Romeo, Juliet suggests they get married and proposes to Romeo, “If that thy bent of love be honorable, / Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow / […] Where and what time thou wilt perform
“Then plainly know my heart's dear love is set On the fair daughter of rich Capulet: As mine on hers, so hers is set on mine;... but this I pray, That thou consent to marry us today” (Line 1117). This quote shows impulsivity of Romeo. He made the decision to marry someone he met only a few hours earlier.
Alice Coachman Davis is the first African American woman to win a gold medal. Growing up in the south, she didn't have many opportunities to peruse what she loved. But after years of training and hard work, which involved running barefoot in the gravel, and moving from school to school across the south, she finally qualified for the Olympics in 1948, and in the end she received a gold medal in high jump. Like Alice, Shakespeare believes that when someone follows their heart’s desires, although it may not be the easiest path, its the path that will make the most sense in the end. He shows this through the tragic ending of Romeo and Juliet’s relationship and the relationship in between Juliet and her parents.
On the balcony, while Romeo is talking to Juliet about their love he starts to speak about marriage as shown when Romeo says “Th' exchange of thy love's faithful vow for mine. (127)” At this point in the story, Romeo knows that Juliet is a Capulet, yet he still attempts to marry her only hours after them meeting. Romeo's impulsive behavior
Just hours after their first encounter, Juliet confesses that she believes their newly formed relationship is moving too quickly. Romeo, feeling unsatisfied with this, abruptly asks for her hand in marriage. She responds, “I gave thee mine before thou didst request it… My bounty is as boundless as the sea,/ My love as deep. The more I give to thee,/ The more I have, for both are infinite.”
On the first night of Romeo meeting Juliet, he asked her to exchange wedding vows. Romeo wanted to decide who he would marry even if he had just met them. Romeo’s perspective trickled down to Capulet threatening to disown Juliet. On the other hand, Capulet, Juliet’s father, wanted what was best for his daughter so he would decide how she would marry and not give her a say.
Romeo told the Nurse and Friar Laurence about their love. Lord capulet sees Juliet's despair thinking its the cause of Tybalt's death and has arranged Juliet to marry Paris. ” Not proud you have, but thankful that you have./ Proud can I never be of what I hate,/ But thankful even for hate that is meant love” ( III.V. 147-149). Though Juliet pleads with her father to not marry Paris, she will still marry Paris on thursday night.
Juliet chooses her love for Romeo quickly. “If that thy bent of love be honourable thy purpose marriage, send me word to-morrow” (Act 2 , scene 2, line 143-144). Juliet is going to send someone tomorrow to ask what time she is going to get married to Romeo, even though they just met a couple hours ago. Juliet is starting to just care about if she is getting married and nothing else. “To-morrow night look that thou lie alone; Let not thy nurse lie with thee in thy chamber.
Juliet was on her balcony confessing her love for Romeo. Romeo, little does she know was in her family’s orchard listening to everything she was saying. Juliet starts talking about how she would give Romeo everything. Romeo instantly wants to get married when he hears that.
