Ilyas Malik Mr.Norris and Mr. James F block 6/9/23 In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the impulsive actions of the young lovers lead to their tragic deaths. As seen in the play, Romeo's intense emotions make him act out of haste, this is shown when Romeo's apprehension of love changes the second he sees Juliet. When Romeo first lays his eyes on Juliet he mutters “I’ll watch her place of stand and, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand. Did my heart love till now?”
Impulsive tendencies are infamous for always ending poorly. Sadly, two young lovers prove this to be true, the main protagonists in William Shakespeare's famed play Romeo and Juliet. In spite of the popular saying “love conquers all”, the two lovers story only ends in woe and death. Impulsive behavior is most to blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The characters who showcase this reckless trait the most are the nurse, Friar Laurence, and Romeo.
In the play "Romeo and Juliet," by William Shakespeare, the tragic deaths of the characters Romeo and Juliet are because of a series of impulsive actions and their failure to communicate, which were both more Romeo's fault. Through his reckless and impulsive decisions and poor communication with Juliet, Romeo plays a central role in the tragic deaths of both of the young lovers. Romeo's impulsive characteristics drive him to rush into the marriage with Juliet, not thinking about the consequences it may have on them and both of the families. Romeo's carelessness is noticeable all throughout the play when he quickly declares his love for Juliet the first time he sees her. When Romeo first runs into Juliet at the Capulet's party, he states, "Did my heart love till now?
In their relationship, Romeo and Juliet consistently make impulsive decisions. Initially, they rush into marriage within hours of meeting, driven by their conviction that they are destined to be together: "If that thy bent of love be honorable, Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow" (2.2.142). Typically, couples take months or even years to reach such a commitment, yet Romeo and Juliet hastily tie the knot. Another impulsive act occurs when Romeo, consumed by grief over Mercutio's death, rashly chooses to confront and ultimately kill Tybalt: "Either thou or I, or both, must go with him" (3.1.125). Despite his initial intention to prevent the fight, Romeo's impulsive actions only escalate the conflict.
Imagine a world where two lovers' fates could have ended up perfect and they both lived happily ever after. Well, that isn't the case for Romeo and Juliet, and their lives were not as perfect as people might have thought. The tragic ending of Romeo and Juliets story expands upon the theme that they cannot always foresee the consequences of their actions as demonstrated by their impulsiveness, family feud, and youthfulness. The first cause of Romeo and Juliet's behavior is their impulsive actions. Instead of them taking time and thinking things through, they immediately acted upon their emotions.
Juliet appears as an outlet for the joy and is then forced to marry Paris 2 years prematurely to the father’s previous arrangement. But now Juliet disobeys her father and wish not marry Paris. Capulet’s response shakes the vary notion of his character before, he says” Day, night, hour, tide, time, work, play, two alone, incompany, still, have care, hath been courtship to have her match’d and having now provided.” (Act 4,scene 5) for every day and night spent on herr attention and care. All for her to marry one noble man yet she refuse the advances that were given provided.
There are some things that everyone can do, no matter the time or age. Everyone has been reckless, he said. Just like real people, characters make irrational choices which contribute to the plot. Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” portrays the theme that making impulsive decisions can lead to dire consequences. One example of this theme being portrayed in “Romeo and Juliet” is when Romeo kills Tybalt as an immediate reaction to Tybalt killing Mercutio.
To be impulsive means to act without thinking and not think about the consequences. Romeo and Juliet were very impulsive in this play because of their young love and underdeveloped mind. In Romeo and Juliet, “Watching New Love as it Sears the Brain” and “The Developing Teen Brain”, It shows that in a brain that is not fully developed, new teen love can become an obsession which could result in manic behavior or impulsive decision making. In Romeo and Juliet, impulsivity was shown through their actions many times throughout this story. One example of this is their secretive marriage.
Romeo is one of the main characters in this story, aged 16. Romeo is described as many things in this play, but I would describe him more as an impulsive person. Throughout this entire play, Romeo shows characteristics of an impulsive person. For example, in Act 3, scene 1, Romeo says, “for Mercutio’s soul Is but a little way above our heads Staying for thine to keep him company either thou or I, or both must go with him.” Romeo was saying this because Tybalt (Juliet's cousin) killed Mercutio (one of Romeo's friends).
Juliet is the only daughter of Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet. She’s a thirteen year old girl who isn’t interested in marriage, until she falls in love with Romeo. Throughout the book, Juliet makes questionable decisions. She is impulsive and dramatic. She’s dramatic when she says she’d rather die than not be with Romeo.
Impulsiveness of Juliet Is Romeo and Juliet just a dramatic play or does it just depend on the character? In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare creates a play about the love at first sight between Romeo and Juliet and the tragic flaws throughout the play. Juliet meets Romeo at a Capulet ball, and since it is a Capulet ball, Montagues should not be there. Her cousin, Tybalt, recognizes the fact that a Montague is there, Romeo. They dismiss this and when Juliet and Romeo meet, they have a love at first sight moment.
One reason Romeo was impulsive is because he fell in love with Juliet and married her only a day after meeting her. Romeo claimed to be in love with Juliet the first time that he saw her and immediately began obsessing over her. He kissed her and began talking about marrying her the night that they met.
Have you ever experienced remorse for a choice that you had made? That could be because you acted quickly and relied on your emotions to guide you, which is just what happened in the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet. Impulsiveness can leave a long lasting, or, in Romeo and Juliet’s case, a permanent consequences. Romeo and Juliet made the ultimate rash decision; they took their own lives out of love for each other. They didn’t really think much about it beforehand.
