“Don’t make hasty decisions based on emotion.When dealing with fear and loss, give yourself time before acting.” -Unknown. This is shown in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet have a forbidden love through their family feud. They make rapid fast actions without thinking it through, basing their actions on their feelings and not there own rationality, causing their love to diminish faster. Romeo and Juliet rush into love after meeting at the Capulet party. When Romeo meets Juliet at her balcony they confess the intensity of their love for one another. “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?/ Deny thy father and refuse thy name; / Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, /And I’ll no longer be a Capulet” (II.II. 33-36). She will deny who she is and her family. “I know not how to tell thee who I am. / My name, dear saint, is hateful to myself / Because it is an enemy to thee./ Had I written, I would tear the word” ( II.II. 54-57). Romeo told the Nurse and Friar Laurence about their love. Lord capulet sees Juliet's despair thinking its the cause of Tybalt's death and has arranged Juliet to marry Paris. ”Not proud you have, but thankful that you have./ Proud can I never be of what I hate,/ But thankful even for hate that is meant love” ( III.V. 147-149). Though Juliet pleads with her father to not marry Paris, she will still marry Paris on thursday night. Juliet of course bases her decisions on her emotions, and comes to a conclusion with her rationality, she plans to trick her father into her marriage plans.
