Is Romeo and Juliet more of a romance or tragedy? In Romeo and Juliet was written by Shakespeare and it was a romance for Romeo and Juliet but for everyone else even their families it is a tragedy. But Romeo and Juliet is way more of a tragedy than a romance. For example, one reason is that Romeo said he was so in love with Rosaline and then when she did not want him back he was so heartbroken and said he was never ever gonna find true love again, and yet again later that night he saw Juliet at the party. When he saw Juliet he said he has never been in true love before and has never seen such pure beauty but yet he said the same things about Rosaline. And also it was nowhere near a true romance because their love lasted 4 days. Sunday through Thursday morning. They met on Sunday after the morning brawl at the Capulet party where they met very quickly and then the balcony scene happened and then it ended Thursday when they were gonna get married but then they both ended up dying before they could move away from their parents. This quote proves my point that Romeo and Juliet are more of a tragedy because he could not have fallen in love so quickly. And also he is saying that his eyes have never seen the true beauty before but he said Rosaline was like the definition of beauty and then he saw Juliet and changes his …show more content…
And when their family’s found out about their love they were threatening the death punishment if their love were to continue. And Juliet says “ O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name. Or if thou wilt not, is but sworn my love and I'll no longer be a Capulet” (Juliet 2.2 Lines 33-36) And they both know that there love is against their families and they know that it's gonna cause bad fortune of events to happen and that leads to there death. And that quote Juliet says is saying that she even is falling in love so fast and will do anything to keep
