According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary free will is "the ability to choose how to act." The freedom to choose what you want to do with your life, and the ability to have control over your own actions. Without free will you limit people's abilities to grow and to evolve, you limit innovation and development, but most of all you limit people's opportunity to have happiness and a purpose. In The Giver people in the communities were told what to do in every step of their lives, they were not only deprived of free will, but the emotions, thoughts, and actions that make life so wonderful. In the movie people weren't aware of the things that were going on. They didn't know what emotions were, or how they felt. They weren't able to express themselves.
