Handling Disruptive Behaviors
Describe a situation when a group in which you were a member was affected by disruptive behavior by one or more of its members. One example that stands out is in choir in school we had a Christmas Program that we performed in other schools, however, during every practice this one student always wanted to out sing everyone or mess it up and sing at the wrong time and laugh about it. This type of disruptive behavior would be the clown, the whiner, and the power grabber. The clown is someone who is always joking and clowning around, the whiner is someone that complains and wants attention, and the power grabber wants to be the center of attention or be the leader.
What effect did it have on you personally? Did you take any action personally to intervene?

No one took action immediately to intervene because the student was a part of the group, however, after several practices a group of students decided to talk to the choir instructor about the situation after practice ended.
How did you resolve your feelings about the disruptive behavior? I resolved my feelings about the disruptive behavior by taking action with other students in the group and addressing the issue with the choir instructor who said that he would take care of it since we all were getting aggravated and annoyed at this behavior.
Based on your readings and experiences, how would that situation best be handled professionally? The choir instructor could have handled the situation professionally in the beginning by confronting the group member privately that would be one approach. Another approach is to simply ignore it and do nothing and act like it does not bother anyone, however, it did bother everyone. In addition, another approach could have been for a group member to intervene and talk to the group
