Hatred in America Our opinions make us who we are. They define our personalities and views. We are all our own person, and this means we have different opinions. These opinions can conflict and cause diversity between one another. This is okay if we can learn to respect one another’s opinion. But recently in America, we have been lacking this certain skill. Americans find it easier to hate and be disrespectful than to love and respect; this challenge will cause more division throughout America and its government. There appears to be different views on almost anything imaginable. People are hated for their different religious beliefs, the color of their skin, their political viewpoints, or their sexual beliefs. On January 20, 2017, a new president was inaugurated to assist the other two branches with the running of our government. Many Americans do not like our new president. On November 16, 2016, there were 892 active hate groups towards President Donald Trump (Becker). This in a crazy amount of people who are dissatisfied with the new president. They have many freedoms given to them by the constitution: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to an attorney, the right to fair judgment; just to name a few. (“The United States Bill of Rights - First 10 Amendments to the Constitution.”) Other citizens in other countries would be so blessed to have these kinds of rights, as whereas many Americans sometimes overlook them. Some may say they do not have it the best; but remember, it could always be worse. In South Africa, 1.9 million people live in shacks or informal dwellings (Wilkinson). Shacks are not normally found around an American town where citizen permanently lives. Those people would sure love to live how you and I do, they would never stop counting their blessings.
