Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazi regime of Germany during World War Ⅱ, led a successful war campaign that conquered massive amounts of territory in Europe, as well as capturing and murdering millions of Jews in what is known as the Holocaust. The war in Europe fought by Nazi Germany and the combined might of the Allied Forces ended with the Battle of Berlin and Adolf Hitler’s suicide. The Holocaust: The widely known event that is the genocide of the Jewish people. It caused the deaths of an estimated 6 million Jews. The Jewish people even call it Shoah, meaning “The Catastrophe”. Hitler used many of his men to carry out the Holocaust, and many resources to build the concentration camps that the Jewish people and many other unfortunate souls would be shipped off to. Instead of committing genocide, Hitler could have used the soldiers and resources used in the Holocaust in the war. Nazi Germany broke that pact with Russia and invaded, dividing their forces into three prongs. One force would attack the city of Leningrad; one would attack the capital of Russia, Moscow; one would also attack the city of Stalingrad. Sending an army into Russia was not the best idea. The farther Hitler invaded, the longer supplies would get to the soldiers on the front lines. Not to mention Russia’s brutal weather. Blitzkrieg, Nazi Germany’s preferred method of war, was not designed for Russia’s weather. One city would become the focal point of the conflict between Russia and Nazi Germany: Stalingrad. A well known Russian sniper, Vasily Zaytsev, brought the 6th Armored Panzer Division to defeat. General Zhukov, a Russian general, pushed back the German army and gained victory in Stalingrad.
