In the holocaust stories many things happened to Jews, and these things that were tampered with that affected the Jews horribly. One of those things is the jew's hope is tested over and over again which sometimes makes or breaks the hope. Some ways that this has been shown in the stories is in the Anne Frank play when they are in hiding waiting for rescues, in the story Maus when they are waiting to cross the border and have to wait for the worker to call someone to help them cross the border when in the story night, Elie's father begs and hopes for water, and when in the story/article quiet resistance the people getting around have to hope not to get caught.

“Eliezer'' continued my father “water” the officer wielded his club and dealt him a violent blow. I didn't move this time. (Night, pg. 111). This part shows how Elie's father was waiting for him; he was hoping his son would get him water. Yet he didn't get his father water instead he stood there too scared to move as his father was about to get hit by the guard. Elie was worried he would be striked as his father was, yet his father was still calling after Elies name as he was struck by the guard. When Elie's father was calling Elies name he was in desperate need of water he was begging and hoping for water. His hope started to break slowly as he kept begging but Elie wouldn’t move. Finally, after his father's head is all bloody he still begs but shortly begins to go silent. This is showing how his hope for his son to get him water slowly starts to crumble. As he is slowly bleeding out all hope for him is gone. This shows how the Jews' hope/faith is tested over and over again which makes or breaks the
