Hope is what we do to desire something we want. Hope is the most important theme in Night because Elie has to have hope in the camps to survive and get out. In Night Elie had hope to desire god to help him and the Russians to save them. Elie hoped that someone will come to save him and that times in the camp would get better. Elie had hope that he would survive in the camps. A lot of bad stuff happened to Elie and he got through it. In Night Elie had hope to desire god to help him and the Russians to save them. On page 36 in Night Elie says, “I thought of us as damned souls wandering through the void, souls condemned to wander through space until the end of time, seeking redemption, seeking oblivion, without any hope of finding either.” Elie
