In Romeo and Juliet, there are many themes that are shown within the play. All of the themes reflect deeply on different aspects of the play. In Romeo and Juliet, two families are in a deep hate with one another. The solution was to marry both Romeo and Juliet, to somewhat unite the two families together and create a pleasant peace between both sides. The play goes on and on, and much drama occurs due to mistakes that were made, which leads to people from each side being killed. This brings me to the theme that I have chosen, which is impulsive behavior. Impulsive behavior is acting on emotions quickly, without taking time to reason, which can often lead to undesirable consequences. An example of this impulsive behavior during the play would be when Mercutio and Tybalt were having a sword fight, and Romeo attempted to restrain Mercutio by wrapping his arm around Mercutio. This is obviously a very dangerous move on Romeo’s part because either Romeo could have been badly injured, or this could have resulted in Mercutio no longer being able to defend himself, and Mercutio getting badly hurt. Unfortunately, that is exactly what had happened! Because Romeo did not think before his somewhat foolish actions, Mercutio was then unable to defend himself, and this resulted in Mercutio’s death.
