Daisy was an extremely arrogant person. Daisy showed her arrogance by the way she thought so highly of herself and that she was better than everybody else. In the movie Daisy tells Gatsby that “a rich girl can never be with a poor man.” When Daisy said this she was portraying that she couldn't risk being with him because it would make her look bad. Daisy said that knowing Gatsby loved her and that he would go find a way to be with her, he even changed his name, but she was too proud to realize that all she really needed was him not him to have money.
Is impossible to say that a relationship where the two partners label themselves as different things is that of a healthy one. Whereas Gatsby genuinely cares about Daisy and has thought about nothing but her for the last 5 years; Daisy is caught between her feelings for Tom and Gatsby, unable to decide between them.
Throughout the narrative, Nick becomes disgusted by careless people which results in his desire to condemn others for their selfish actions and his choice to go back home. Ewing Klipspringer is a very careless character in The Great Gatsby. He benefited probably more than anyone from Gatsby, he was always at the parties and basically lived there. People even called him the boarder, as in a boarding house or hotel. Even though Klipspringer was living rent-free and benefiting from Gatsby, he never went to Gatsby’s funeral.

In The Great Gatsby, the author, F. Scott Fitzgerald, portrays the characters in relationships wanting relationships with others that they can’t socially have. Gatsby is in love with the idea of Daisy. Gatsby’s love for Daisy is definitely more intense than Daisy’s love for Gatsby. His love for Daisy seems tied up in an obsession with her wealth and the status she represents. Daisy has promised to wait for Gatsby, but is in love with the idea of Tom.
In the novel, The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald portrays women in an extremely negative light. The idea Fitzgerald gives off is that women are only good for their looks and their bodies and that they should just be a sex symbol rather than actually use their heads. He treats women like objects and the male characters in the novel use women, abuse women, and throw them aside. I believe that Daisy, Jordan and Myrtle are prime examples of women in The Great Gatsby being treated poorly.

Fitzgerald provides plenty of scenes in The Great Gatsby supporting the ideas whether Gatsby’s love was affectionate, obsession, or objectification. Fitzgerald shows that throughout the story, Gatsby slowly becomes more obsessed with Daisy as he draws closer and closer to be with her. By the end of the book, Gatsby becomes obsessed with Daisy. He only thinks about her and analyze everything in her life. Even in the beginning when the reader finally meets Gatsby, his obsession shows.

Gatsby's selfish love for Daisy begins when he is stationed at camp Taylor where he meets Daisy and began to fall in love with her, until he is shipped out for the war. When the war ends he can not go back to Daisy and instead is sent to Oxford to study. When Gatsby makes a life for himself and finally returns for Daisy she had already married Tom Buchanan as she was no longer able to wait any longer for Gatsby. Gatsby could not accept that he had been too late for Daisy and wanted Daisy to tell Tom “that you never loved him” (Fitzgerald chapter 7). While it is true that Daisy loved Gatsby she also loved Tom and could not deny his love as well, Gatsby could not accept this.
They both love Daisy in their own way and do not want to lose her. Gatsby states, “Both of us loved each other all that time” (Fitzgerald 138). Gatsby wants Daisy to tell Tom she never loved him so that they can be together, but she cannot because it would not be true. Daisy says to Gatsby, “I did love him once-but I loved you too”(Fitzgerald 140). Daisy used to love both of them but chooses Tom because she is used to life with Tom and does not change.

In this story Gatsby has become blinded by his affection for Daisy he does not stop to consider anything else but being with her. He has this illusion and fantasy he has longed for since a little boy in his dream. While he has obtained everything else, the fame, glory, and wealth he lacks one thing, a lover. He has his life all crafted out and Daisy was his missing piece.
The novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is about how the interactions between money and love have major effects on the relationships between Tom, Daisy, and Gatsby. The relationship between Tom and Daisy is built more on money rather than love, however, there is little bits of love. Daisy marries Tom because of his wealth, but throughout their relationship she does, fall in love with Tom at least once. Also, Tom uses his money to basically buy Daisy’s love showing that he wants to have love in his life. The relationship between Gatsby and Daisy is also built on wealth, but it also involves love, alike the relationship of Tom and Daisy.
They were once in love, before the war. But, after Gatsby leaves Daisy finds a new man. A man with money that could give her anything she desired. Everything except love that is. Gatsby could give her love at the time, but not money.
