Jonas gaining feelings changes his opinion from being comfortable and loyal to his community to feeling betrayed and shocked. Jonas gaining feelings changes his opinion from being comfortable and loyal to his community to feeling betrayed and shocked, because in the beginning of the book Jonas is loyal to his community and everything is normal. The quote “When I finish my training and become a full adult, I’ll be given my own dwelling. And then when Lily does, a few years later, she’ll get her own dwelling, and maybe a spouse, and children if she applies for them, and then maybe mother and father—” pg.156 shows that Jonas was raised to believe that everything happens in a certain way and he never questioned it. The quote also shows how Jonas is very excited for the future because he thinks that all this is definitely going to happen. This supports my opinion that in the beginning of the book Jonas feels comfortable and loyal to his community. Because some of the things in the quote are a little bit strange but Jonas is mentioning them like they are completely normal.
