The Jews in question are being held captive and are tortured for suspicion of sabotage; the young pipel remains silent in solitary confinement. He is being condemned to death, along with two other inmates, for possessing arms. When face to face with death, they remain silent. Ever since humans came to be, they have done many things to ensure their survival. It’s the reason why we humans have evolved as much as we have. Humans have invented devices, accomplished many challenges, and have even relied on nothing but willpower to survive. Throughout history, many people have abused and misused the power they have been trusted to have. The book Night is written by a survivor of the Holocaust, named Elie Wiesel, who is writing to encourage people not to make the same mistakes that happened during the Holocaust. Unfortunately, people haven’t learned the lesson of letting people with power control things. While Elie and his father were at the train, after the acts of the Jews they realized that the fear makes people evil. We can see that the fear made Jews evil in the train because they were trying to kill each other in the train to survive, and they were also throwing the death bodies out of the train. “Throw out all the dead! All corpses outside!” (Wiesel 94).
For every individual, it is difficult to give up two than one. In the novel Night, by Elie Wiesel, Elie magnanimously inputs his blood and sweat by sacrificing his strength and rations for the survival of his father. He holds unconditional hopes of believing that he will be able to make not only himself survive through the brutal camps under German control, but also his father through his efforts. Through this, Elie uses the relationship with his father to suggest that individuals should be independent for better survival because it is more efficient to create a single, strong individual rather than two weak ones. Elie may have continuously helped his father in lengthening his endurance, but failed to straighten his father’s will.
Courage is a word that used often or not, has it’s own meaning. Having courage to do the impossible is experienced in our everyday lives without even thinking, such as, taking out the trash, going to school, taking a step onto a unknown street, it happens to us all and can even have a dramatic impact on yourself, your future, and your life. In the book Night courage is experienced every single day of torture. Prisoners, such as Elie, face and fight for their own survival not knowing that their best weapon possessed in their hands was courage. Courage was a weapon, a very powerful weapon that could change your fate in an instant.
Elie Wiesel, the author of Night, describes the horrors of focusing on your own survival. Certain acts provoke inhumane acts throughout the ordeal. A central theme in Night is, even though it’s difficult, people should value compassion over their own survival. For instance, the evil of a lack of compassion affects thousands of prisoner lives.

Hope is a helpful tool to push people through the hardest times in life. In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, there are numerous examples of hope helping people and revitalizing their confidence.
