To Kill a Mockingbird A good place to live consist of a safe, honest, and friendly environment. The book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Focuses a lot on a young girl by the name of Scout, who lives in the town of Maycomb. The town Maycomb is a great example of a bad place to live. Maycomb does not have basic needs, a safe environment, and is very discriminative. Maycomb is not the best place to live. First of all, Maycomb is a bad place to live because there is no easy access to basic needs. At this time, the people of the community are poor. As it says in the book, “The Cunninghams had no money to pay a lawyer. They simply paid us with what they had” (Lee 21). People in the community do not have enough money so instead of paying, they trade or give things to each other as a pay. First, crimes happen in Maycomb. When Scout and Jem walked home together in the dark, “We stopped and listened.
