People didn’t have jobs, food, and a scarce amount of money. These are necessities needed to survive, and they were not available. This need for necessities continued to grow and caused more people to come depressed due to the fact they didn’t have these priorities. These individuals didn’t know if they would make it to the next day. This tragic event caused mental disorders to the people of this generation. Today, anxiety disorders are more common. Currently, more and more people are suffering from ADD and ADHD. ADD (Attention deficit disorder) and ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) are both an anxiety disorders that affect people’s ability to stay focused on things like schoolwork, conversations, and everyday activities. These anxiety disorders could be said to be caused by the increase of technology in our culture, causing younger people to have a hard time concentrating on the tasks at hand. Technology surrounds everyone in modern day society. Instead of playing outside, children are sitting inside on the IPad for hours on end. According to Russell Barkley, “On average, there are 1 to 3 children who have ADHD in every classroom of 30 students.” This statistic keeps growing and growing. Children get attached to a website or a video game, making it addicting. They are to focused on this game that they can’t focus on anything else going on.
