Hello Mrs. Betty Boss, This e-mail concerns the illegal act of discrimination committed by one of our surgical specialists against a patient that is from the country of Uzbekistan. The patient’s rights were denied because the patient was not provided an interpreter and had requested an interpreter prior to her appointment at Imperial Unlimited. National Origin discrimination has many different instances in which it is shown. A person can be discriminated against for many reasons, such as their language, culture, or even their ancestry. I had to make sure that our company policy is being followed according to the laws of national origin discrimination. The patient was discriminated by not being provided an interpreter when she had requested prior to her appointment. The steps that the patient is going to take are they are going to file a complaint with the US Employment Opportunity Commission. According to hhs.gov, (2016) “Anyone who believes that he/she has been discriminated against because of race, color or national origin may file a complaint with OCR within 180 days of the date on which the discrimination took place” (Office for Civil Rights, 2016). Imperial Unlimited could thus lose our governmental funding if we do not adhere in the future to our patients requests for
