Morals are a part of everyday lifestyle. Authors use their novels to express their opinions different morals. Some people present morals in different ways. Several views of morality have been introduced in the novel Huckleberry Finn, Twain values some views more than others, such as; morales the developpe from experience, morals learn from guardians and morals from god. To convey these views he uses satire, diction and imagery as a way to present these sources of morality. Twain uses a lot of satire to make people understand his points. People are more interested in comedy rather than seriousness and by Twain using satire people see the point. Miss Watson uses the n word and it becomes a part of Huck's vocabulary Page 3 Twain uses diction to prove this view of morality because that word was a part of everyone's vocabulary at the time. Huck may have known the word before but Miss Watson and Widow Douglas are just prolonging it and making it seem likes it's alright. They’re not teaching him that it's not good and they're still promoting it. Huck is picking up the language of his guardians and of everyone around him. Huck doesn’t exactly know what the word means and how hurtful it is but he still says it because everyone else does. Pap is also giving Huck bad habits and morals. He’s one of the worst people Huck has gotten his values from. For example, Page 19,21 and 23, show that Huck is not actually wanted and pap is using him for the money. From a kid's point of view they should be happy to go live with their significant other but pap isn’t treating him well. He’s teaching Huck that school is not important and that it’s okay to smoke. pap is teaching him to be more independant too soon. Having independance when you're older is a great thing but not so much when you're still a child. Not putting Huck in school was a bad mistake because pap is teaching him that quitting things are okay when it’s not. At that time people wanted to believe in greater people and a place to go after death because not a lot of people lived for a long time, due to illnesses etc. People started to believe in a religion to have hope. Most people started to get morals from practicing the religion because they were so into it. Miss Watson is one of those people, we see that Twain makes this satirical, Miss Watson says that if Huck does bad practices ,such as slouching and smoking, he’ll go to the bad place. Widow Douglas tries to approach Huck in a better way with telling Huck about stories that would interest a young boy. Widow Douglas isn’t forcing it on him and isn't trying to use religion to get him to do things that Miss Watson wants him to do.(Twain Page 2).”After supper she got out her book and learned me about Moses and the Bulrushers…” (Twain 2). Widow Douglas is still trying to make Huck learn about religion and just have a common knowledge on it but she’s not scaring him with it like Miss Watson.
