Grandma is the Problem
“A Good Man is Hard to Find” is a fine example of actions that have consequences. This story foreshadows and uses situational irony in many ways. The Grandma in this story depicts a character who has all the traits of a protagonist, but is she really? The grandmother achieves selfishness in multiple ways of her own rather than thinking about the rest of the family. Her actions led to the death of the whole family.
There is a misfit running loose in Florida that the grandma read about. Since he could be a threat to them she wants to go on a family trip to Tennessee instead of Florida (she is from Tennessee). The Grandma sneaks the cat into the car and while they are …show more content…

If she would not have begged to go down a dirt road. If she would not have brought the cat with them like Bailey said. If she would not have told the Misfit she knows who she is. Maybe it would have been a successful trip. O’Connor found a way to bring foreshadowing and situational irony in. Over all, manipulation and selfishness take over a person and makes them choose to do things that could harm others. This story is a perfect example of your actions having consequences.
