The Crazies to Say the Least “David leans on the sideline fence, sipping his coffee, watching the game. No one has yet noticed the dark figure walking out of the shadowy woods beyond the outfield. Weaving like a drunkard, he walks right onto the playing field, oblivious to the game. He is carrying a shotgun. Heads turn, mouths falling open in the bleachers and dugouts, everybody staring in collective disbelief.
What is the American Dream? The American Dream is defined by the ideal that life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement regardless of social class or circumstances of birth. In the article “ American Dream? Or Mirage?” by Michael W. Kraus, Shai Davidai, and A. David Nussbaum, the idea that the lower you are on the wealth/class scale the more you believe in the american dream, whilst on the other hand the higher you are, the more you think it is just luck rather than merit. Professor Kraus et al were wrong in saying that the American Dream is still alive when in truth the American Dream is dying if it is not already dead not only in the upper class but also in the lower class.
In American culture control over key resources seems to be the most important to the gender stratification. Throughout time, women in America were not equal to men. The men in most cases earned money for the household, held political position, could vote, and own property. Women were there to take care of the children and the household. Over time women began to take on roles outside of the household.

The government has not been treating all people equally. LGBT and gender are all victims. Sadly, the United States Government hasn’t been going by the principles and all people are not being treated equally and fairly. Many face inequality when it comes to their gender and likely they’re women.

Americans strive for something called “The American Dream.” Some people believe that they have achieved this dream. However, there are many people in America that have had so many problems economically that this “dream” has become out of reach.

The topic has been floating around since America became a country. Magazines such as Forbes and The Atlantic have written multiple articles discussing the problem, and data reports and statistical analyses have helped to uncover a particular question: Is history repeating itself? From The War Between the States to modern day, economic inequality has not only been repeating, but increasing. It is apparent in the economic inequality during the 1860's, the increasing economic inequality, and the income inequality that is turning America into an oligarchy.
To begin, inequality still exists in the United States today because of transgenders getting ban from the military. For example, Trump says that “the U.S government will not accept transgenders to serve in any capacity in the military and that the military should just be focused on the victory and not just by the disruption that transgenders in the military would entail.” This shows that Trump thinks that the LGBT community is a distraction to our society. Trump thinks that they aren’t capable of fighting strong and provide protection to our country. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be here.
Within social mobility, many people fail to have a sense of the realization of the American Dream because of the fewer advantages and more problems minorities have to struggle through. Therefore, our social class affects our ability to realize the American Dream because we face challenges to make ends meet, intersectionality and education because of high status.
Those failures and obstacles you encounter can only make you stronger. There is something else that plays a big role in the social mobility and the American Dream, which is structural mobility. Structural mobility is the movement up or down the social class ladder that is due more to the changes in the structure of the society
Inequality is often associated with racial injustice, but actually goes beyond that and has created new ways for social inequality to exist among various circumstances in our country. It affects millions in terms of their way/ quality of life. There is a relationship between gender socialization and gender stratification problem in the U.S. society. Gender socialization is the tendency for the boys and girls to be socialized differently such as boys are raise to accept male gender role while girls are raised to accept female gender role. Gender role are define role, behavior pattern, attitude, and personality trait set by society that each gender must display according to their gender. Gender stratification is the inequality that exist between female and male such male having higher income then female counterpart, male getting better position at jobs then female, and stereotyping female. Gender stratification usually support male more than female because of a simple fact that they are genetically different than male.
In the 1980`s it changed to extreme success of wealth. Although now the American Dream has changed to the concern of wealth, it started with a happy life for all citizens. The meaning of the American Dream started out as a wealthy but happy life for every citizen of any rank. In the early 1900`s the term “American Dream” was introduced in James Truslow Adams book The Epic of America (Kamp 2).
A lot of people, especially in the US, are talking about the racial segregation during the 20th century when Martin Luther King, Civil Rights Movement, Freedom Riders etc were active as a past era. These people say it like it’s something that have happened back in the days, something finished, but very few of them has thought about if the racial segregation still exists today in some way. But for us who looks at it from a bit more objective and unbiased perspective it’s quite obvious that it still exists in the US, even though many people are totally ignoring it or just not being able to see it as clearly as us who aren’t a part of the society. The American Dream has the nationality ethos of the United States. It is a collection of goals that everyone born in America has freedom, equal opportunity for prosperity and upward social mobility. They can achieve through hard work in a society with few obstacles. However, the fact is cruel. Nowadays, America’s economic inequality is growing.
