Faith. Anytime something unexpected happens to anyone, everyone always says have faith; but is it faith in God, others, yourself? Elie Wiesel author of the memoir Night went through an immense amount of struggles and through it all he was able to venture into that question, and through this, he was able to reveal something very important about humanity. Most people will come and go in life friends, strangers, and pets to name a few but the people who will never leave you are family. Family members have a sort of sacred bond people outside from them don't normally have. Even when families fight they almost always seem to make up because they love each other, and even when those family members don't express their love with words they do with their actions. During the yellow fever outbreak in Philadelphia the Cook family is put through some tough times infection, loss, thievery, and much more than any one family should have to go through, but the one thing that never changes is their love for each other. In Fever 1793, by Laurie Halse Anderson Mattie, Mother, and Grandpa hardly ever say I love

James Allen, an English writer, once stated, “If your real desire is to do good, there is no need to wait for money before you do it.” This quote could have several interpretations. Obstacles can be challenging, and difficult, but people can overcome them by never giving up, always trying their best, and surrounding themselves with families and friends. Two stories that I have read that show adversity are “A Work in Progress” by Aimee Mullins which is about a little girl losing her leg. The other story I read is “So Far From the Bamboo Grove” by Yoko Kawashima Watkins about a little girl that has to leave her home because of war and has very big obstacles to overcome. Aimee Mullins and the Kawashimas both face obstacles that include losing family members, walking very far in intense weather, and people doubting you and trying to stop you. In the end they all make it through the the challenges mentally and physically.
My reasons for wanting to serve Peace Corps Volunteer are personal and intellectual. First of all, I want to share the knowledge I have acquired throughout my life by making myself available and becoming part of something bigger. I’ve had the opportunity to attend school and I recently completed a graduate degree; this has been a great accomplishment not only for me, but for my family as well. Therefore serving as a PCV would be a rewarding experience not only for me but for those who have supported me throughout my life, since I will contribute towards a bigger cause by helping to improve the lifestyle of less fortunate people. After successfully receiving a graduate degree, it is expected that I find a permanent job related to my field of
Throughout life people yearn for the thrill of success; however, they often do nothing to achieve that success and instead wish for it. This desire raises the question of how success is truly achieved; is it through pure luck or perseverance? Arthur Miller answers this through Death of a Salesman, where a variety of characters obtain their version of success. Being an unrealistic and unapproachable path to success, Miller emphasizes that luck is not a reliable method to gaining success. Through the use of various characters, Arthur Miller illustrates that relying on hard work brings more success than luck does.
Support: Eric Thomas, the author of the book ‘The Secret to Success’, once said about success that whatever paths taking us to success, at some point we all have to go through the boulevard of hard work. Example: If you want to achieve success, hard work and dedication are the second element after explicit plans. In addition, we had better take responsibility for our tasks. None can help us to fulfil our targets but ourselves, hence learning to bear responsibility is very essential.
