In Society today we believe that in order to be and become successful is all dependent on an individual's personality and their character. In Malcolm Gladwell’s book the “Outliers” he states that success is based and controlled by outside forces and that everyone in the world is granted certain opportunities, chances, and are given certain advantages that not everyone else in the world are given. Even though Gladwell’s ideas are supported by a ton of evidence he ultimately forgets to factor in the effects determination and hard work can have on someone’s success. Gladwell fails to realize that a people can succeed simply just because they want to.

The witches in the play Macbeth constantly speak in a strange way. They talk in riddles that often have more than one meaning. I think the reason why Macbeth is giving the witches attention to them is because of their outlandish claims, and confusing riddle-like way of speaking. Any person that talks, or physically appears strangely automatically gets more attention than someone who looks ordinary. Since the witches are also strange in appearance, this only makes them stand out from the ordinary.
One way Macbeth is presented as a powerful character is through his ability to single handedly alter the outcome of a battle. His immense power when fighting against the Norwegian rebels was described to be as if he was ‘disdaining fortune with his brandished steel’. This quote suggests that despite seeming as if it was fate for them to lose, Macbeth was able to surpass all expectations and triumph in the end. The phrase ‘disdaining fortune’ may suggest that Macbeth’s power was so great that it not only defeated the literal opponent in front of him but also the intangible force of destiny; this only emphasises his excellence. Furthermore the phrase ‘fortune on its damned quarrel smiling’ personifies fate as if it were an actual opponent.
Macbeth’s rough journey towards taking over the throne cuts through many hard objectives. The first objective, which is a sign for further objectives, is the murder of the former king, Duncan. The beginning of the plan to kill Duncan starts with the old witches prophesying that Macbeth will take over the throne. Macbeth wants to follow this prophecy due to his true ambitions. However, the prophecy is followed only because his wife, Lady Macbeth leads Macbeth through this decision.

Think of success like watching a tree grow the branches split into different paths one can take each split is another opportunity to prosper and grow beautiful leaves like trophies. An uncommon belief is that the process of becoming successful is like a tree branch, if one starts off strong, more paths appear growing from the sturdy branch, and achieving goals lead to leaves growing to show wealth. “It is those who are successful, in other words, who are most likely to be given the kinds of special opportunities that lead to further success,” (Gladwell 30). Author of nonfiction book Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell, agrees with this uncommon belief, in his book he argues that success does not come from intelligence or passion
‘Macbeth’s ambition is his only weakness’. Do you agree? Macbeth’s greatest weakness is his ambition, but it is also his greatest strength. Despite his ambition being one of his major weaknesses, it is not his sole weakness he exhibits that contributes to his inevitable death.
Macbeth vs. The Real World (An Analysis of Macbeth and his relation to 21st century Society) The depth of literature is greater than the depth of the greatest ocean. It goes deeper than we could possibly imagine. A classic example of great literature is Mr. William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. This is play that most groundlings would have been interested in due to its murder, battling, and occasional humor.
William Shakespeare, a notable writer in the Elizabethan, wrote a play, Macbeth, for the pleasure of James I, the King of England, in 1606. The play initiated with a heroic man, Macbeth, who valiantly fights the enemy in his shining armor and glazing sword, but soon after the man turned onto a dangerous road in his path led by three daunting witches and his wife, Lady Macbeth, who deceived him and presented Macbeth his devastating fate at their disposal as Macbeth continued to crave the power of the loyal crown. However, some believe that Macbeth’s villainous behavior compares to the personal qualities , actions, and outside interventions of the notorious Disney villain, Scar, from the 1995 Academy Awards and the 1995 Grammy Awards winner
Outliers, written by Malcolm Gladwell, is an informational book regarding the intricacies of success and how it comes to fruition in individuals. Outliers has served to teach students the means of being successful and the importance of seizing opportunities as they come. Personally, Outliers has changed my views of success in numerous ways. Before reading said book, I had always assumed people who were naturally talented or had specific privileges were the only ones who could get far. However, Gladwell’s writing has informed me that anyone, if they are prepared to work hard, can reach their goals.
This notion of me believing hard work leading to success has mostly come from the mindset of athletes. In Frank’s article he states “Wealthy people overwhelmingly attribute their own success to hard work rather than to factors like luck or
From honored soldier to murderous tyrant, Macbeth killed his way into power. He was informed of his “destiny” and stopped at nothing to achieve it. He had multiple chances to rethink his actions. He didn 't however, he kept on his march to power leaving only himself to blame. Macbeth is the only one to blame for his actions and ultimately, his death.
