Do you ever wonder what our business is as humans? Ebenezer Scrooge is a man who no one enjoys being alone. He does not understand our true business in life. Scrooge thinks our true business is to make money. In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens shows that one’s business in life is to make other’s lives better through the transformation of Scrooge’s emotions.
To most people’s surprise, even in the professional and highly political National Hockey League (NHL), there are people involved with the association that suffers from mental illness and addictions. One of those people was Theo Fleury. Theo Fleury’s book takes you back in time to his dark childhood and bumpy National Hockey League career. Fleury certainly does not hold back in detail when it comes to the sexual abuse he experienced as a child, and the drug abuse as an adult. Scrooge dislikes Christmas, anytime anyone says merry Christmas he says bah humbug and goes back to work. For instance, when Fred his nephew come into his counting house and invites him for Christmas dinner he said bah humbug and waved him goodbye. Scrooge hats giving his money away as an illustration in the play that we watched two people came to ask for money and he said no and to leave. Scrooge is a very cheap man, one example of this is that he had a girlfriend that wanted to marry him but he loved money more than her.
Scrooge was also a rude and mean person, who hated Christmas. He was a bad person but when he changed he did not change as much as the Grinch. Scrooge is a rich mean old man, who was given a chance to change, be his nephew inviting him to a Christmas party, or people going around asking for money to donate, but he never did any of that. While the Grinch didn't have an opportunity to change when everyone hated him, and even when he was invited to something, and started to change, they played sick jokes on him. Scrooge could have changed but he didn't, the Grinch only had one chance to change, and he took it.
At the beginning of A Christmas Carol,Scrooge is mean,selfish,and greedy. He is mean, because on pg.9, he never donates to the poor,and he always yells at little kids. Scrooge is also selfish because on pg.12, he never pays a day wages for no work. They say “it's a poor excuse for picking a man’s pocket every twenty-fifth of december!”Also,another word is he is greedy,on pg.17, says he is caustic and cold as ever and never gave anything to anyone. He said “what do you want with me.
Christmas Greed Greed is the one thing that everyone in the world has in common. Greed can cause cause someone to be selfish and hurt those around them as a result. Bad greed causes people and others around them to get hurt. Greed can change a person’s personality.
Secondly, Scrooge left his beloved sweetheart because greed blinded him for the woman that he was compassionate about. When the first spirit visited Scrooge it took Scrooge to the day where he left his sweetheart. When his sweetheart said, “Can you love me, Ebenezer?
