In the book of Exodus there was a transition in Israel from a family, to "a people" in bondage and slavery, to a nation delivered and relying on God in the wilderness.
In Corinthians 10:1-4 the verse relates to a historical event that happened earlier in the bible where Moses and the Israelites cross the red sea. When the Egyptians were after the Israelites they became worried and cried out to Moses. He tells them in Exodus 14:13, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again." In Corinthians 10:1-2, the verse talks about how our "ancestors" being under the cloud and passing through the sea. This is what happen in Exodus with Moses and the Israelites escaping Pharaoh and his army (the Egyptians). The second verse goes into detail helping you better understand the meaning of the parting of the red sea and the Israelites passing through. It states the we were all "baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea." So while the Israelites were passing through the water they were being baptized. The second part of the verse talks about "the cloud" This isn't the iCloud you use to save images from your phone or pc. This cloud is the cloud that was mentioned in Exodus, the cloud was there between the two armies. The cloud also brings balance in light to each side. The second mentioning of the cloud in Exodus is when God looks down from the pillar of cloud and makes it harder for the Egyptians to get closer to the Israelites.
