How do composers create form in music? What can we listen for in order to understand what we hear?
Form is basically structure and shape of the music and keeping it organized, basically what it is about. Most musicians will describe form in one of two ways. The first way they describe form is to label each section with a letter. The second way is by giving each section a name. They need to create a shape to the music so we can understand it. Classical music consists of six stand alone forms: simple binary, compound binary, rondo, air and variations, and fugue. You can understand the forms by listening to the repetitions and allows us to make a connection and remember the song.
