The following will Define crime mapping and explain its usefulness to police officials and patrol officers. It will be inclusive of a description concerning areas where crime rates are the highest and the lowest. Also, covered will be all of the crime factors available including economic demographics, known types of crime, most common crime, police or security presence, community activities and involvement, etc. Given that I am employed with the Cochise County Sheriff’s office, this will be more of a personal report rather than an interview.
Crime mapping is a process by which crime analysts map and analyze crime in a specific area. Information procured from the process is shared with police officials who decide how to use the information to allocate resources in an effort to deal with crime. In regard to the specific assignment, I attempted to obtain official crime mapping information for the community in which I reside. I was unable to locate any such information.
