Charles Darwin founded the biological theory of the survival of the fittest. The survival of the fittest is defined as the ongoing survival of organisms that are best adapted to the environment that they are living in, while others become extinct. Many people only applied this to nonhuman organisms, but that all changed in later years. Herbert Spencer found that this theory applied to human’s everyday life. The rich and the poor is a great example of the survival of the fittest, not only does the rich have the most power and wealth they also have the best schooling for themselves and children, receive the best care, and services from others. While the rich do not have to worry about making next week's rent, the poor have lots to worry about when it come to money, like paying for clothes, food, and doctors. Wealth is determined by income of a person, which is mostly earned through a job. Some of the most popular occupations of higher up and important people include lawyers, college professors, doctor, and astronomer. All of these occupations have been achieved through many hard working years of education and training, which allows for many people to gain respect. While the situation for the less prestigious is different for work, because it is easily gained without as much pay, training, and education.
