The Civil War was a battle of great importance to our history of the United States. On April 12th, 1861 this battle broke out between the Union States, North, and the Confederate States, such as the South. The Civil War took place all throughout the United states, and did not come to an end until the Union won the war on May 9, 1856. So, our question of “What caused the Civil War”, comes with three important answers. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were Economic, Social, and Political differences.
The reason why the United States fought in a Civil War was due to the North and the South not being able to reach an agreement on which states should become slave states, and which would remain free states. This Disagreement was caused by the United States gaining several new states and territories from the Mexican-American war. After that war had ended the South feared that the North would vote to ban slavery for good because the land America gained from Mexico gave the north more states. The Civil War was also caused by fights that broke out in the new states and territories between the North and the South. Due to all the fighting in the states and the disagreements in congress, the United States ended up in a Civil War that split the nation
To start, The Civil war was a pivotal moment in American history. The civil war continues to shape our nation to this day. Although the war had many causes, the issue of slavery was the biggest reason for the civil war. The north and the south had different viewpoints on slavery. These different perspectives led to the American civil war.
The Civil War was the bloodiest war in American history and was fought on American soil against are own men. A quote from Robert E. Lee says, “It is well that war is so terrible, or we would grow too fond of it”. The Civil war was fought over slavery, political differences, and and the movement west. The north didn't want slavery any more but the south still wanted slaves because they needed them for farming. Once president Abraham Lincoln was elected as president in 1860 shortly after the south seceded which was a breaking point and the war started.

The South felt that whether or not to have slaves should be a decision made by each individual state and should not controlled on a national level. The North felt that slavery should be abolished in all states. These differences brought a lot of separations between the states as a result, the Civil War was fought. The war was fought from 1861 to 1865.
The Civil War broke out due to southern slave states declaring their independence from the United States to form the Confederacy and states that did not was known as the Union. The main reason the Civil War occurred was over the issue of slavery. The debate about the future of slavery led to the south’s secession which led to war between the north and the south. Slavery became an important issue between the North and the South.
The Slavery states were feeling discriminated against by the non Slavery states. The north was no longer willing to tolerate Slavery states. They wanted to abolish slavery throughout the states and as thought, the south fought back. “The Civil War started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slave states over the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become states.” When Lincoln got elected he promised to keep Slavery out of the new states and that’s when most of those states seceded and became The Confederate States Of America.
Several conflicts led to the Civil War. One being the expansion of slavery. Abraham Lincoln, and many others in the Union, wanted to stop it from spreading and end it entirely; this feared and angered the southern states so they seceded from the Union. They formed the confederate states of America with Jefferson
The American Civil War was one of the devastating wars that the world and the newly formed country of the United States had ever seen. It was one of the bloodiest wars that the country would see, even into modern times of the twenty first century as well. There were many turning points to the war that helped turn the tide of the war in the favor of the North to win eventually. The war had more casualties than any other war the United States had ever been in, so that goes to show how much both the North and the South were willing to give up to win one of the most important wars in US history. There were many battles that helped expose the advantages and disadvantages for both sides had during this costly war.
