Because all students should have the right to an equal education, ELL’s should have equal access to the same resources that other students have. The whole school should be on board with welcoming, supporting, and making the ELL student’s transition easier (Rance-Roney, 34). The parent’s perspective towards bilingual education was like the student’s opinions because both individuals felt immersion classrooms benefit the students and the parents. The father of Jason was proud his son was the first in his family to read, write, and speak in English. Jason’s father knew his son would have many career opportunities by learning English at school. Learning the English academic language was not the only proud language Jason’s father encouraged for Jason to learn but also the Spanish language as well. Jason’s father only speaks Spanish so if his son was to lose his home language, a language barrier would form between father and son.

There are disadvantages because some people might not have money for the class, they might not have a class for you to take a foreign language, or they might not have time to take the class.
In order to apply specific learning principles to my everyday life and have a deeper understanding of how they work, I chose to modify a habit of mine with some of these learning principles. My target behavior for this application process was my studying habits, or lack thereof. Through operant conditioning, specifically positive reinforcement, I tried to increase how much I studied by rewarding myself with Netflix afterwards.
