The French and Indian war, also called the Seven Years war, was viewed on a world wide screen. The war was fought between the British, the French, the Native American allies, and the colonists. Prior to the war, mostly everything east of the Mississippi River was claimed by either the French or British. The French and Indian war vastly influenced and altered the political, economic, and ideological relations between Britain and its colonies by imposing taxes and regulations unfairly towards the colonies. Which caused the colonists to change their ideology from toleration to resentment toward Britain.

It officially came to a close with the Treaty of Paris in 1763 and North America territories were divided to United Kingdom. Spain ceded Florida to the United Kingdom. France ceded Louisiana to the east of Mississippi River to the United Kingdom as compensation.
The British decided to leave because they thought the colonist should be able to form their own governments and fend for themselves. This all changed after the French and Indian War because The British Government needed to tax the colonist to pay the debt from the war. During the period of Salutary Neglect, the Americans formed their own customs, habits, and systems of government. The colonists also felt like they were independent from British rule which is what made them upset when they tried to reestablish power over the area. Imagine being free for over 150 years to then have a greater power tell you what you were supposed to do.

The people of America (colonists) were tired of being controlled by England. They wanted to be free and independent. They believed that they were able to control themselves and be their own country. They wanted England to let go of their control and to view them as independent and their own country.

As both countries conquered the new land, letting their civilians settle there as colonists with the sole purpose of providing money for their homeland, they encountered the Ohio Valley; land that was assured to contribute to each of their imperialist motives. During the war where French troops allied with the native Americans against Britain, the laws given to the British colonies were left unmonitored, and the colonists evaded the strict taxation and rules against trading with other countries. However, when the war ended in 1763, resulting in a British victory, Britain was left a multitude of problems. This included the great national debt of approximately 122 million British pounds.
The British government was not looking for the best of the people. They were only thinking about what they wanted; the government was not interested in what the people wanted so they decided to make decisions on their own, which resulted in changes that form the United States today. Because of this, they were justified in rebelling and declaring independence. One reason why the colonists decided to rebel and declare independence was because of taxation.

I believe that the American colonists made the right decision on seperating from Britain because of the new tax acts imposed, Boston Massacre, and Intolerable Acts.
