Juveniles who commit a crime, should they be sentenced and punished the same as adults? I believe they should not receive the same punishment and sentence. In order to provide my opinion and prove it’s a valid point, I shall back it up with my own ideas, and ideas from this article and hope the details from the article support my opinion. In order to support my opinion on why Juveniles should not be treated as the same as adults, we need to look at the Positive side of Juveniles NOT being treated the same as adults. One Positive output on Juveniles NOT being treated as adults is that they are able to think about their future and reconsider their fate, but they need the opportunity to change and think things over. It’s also beneficial for us taxpayers because we pay for the inmates being housed in prison. positive It’s just Unconstitutional to sentence them because they are simply. Kids, they aren’t adults, multiple studies reveal that their brains are losing brain tissue in their “teen years” instead of gaining brain tissue. Studies from a group of Researchers at the University of California and the National Institute of Health have revealed that brain scans have proven that Teenagers lose an average of 1-2% of brain tissue each year. Let's say they do get released from prison instead of serving life in prison. There is a possibility that they can commit the same crime, or even worse. Perhaps, if they do treat them as adults and punish them the same, then there might be a decrease in crime.
