I nominate Dr. Nick Lynchard because he’s a very influential teacher and cares deeply about his students. When I tool Psy 101 with Dr. Lynchard he spoke about more than just his subject matter and focused on teaching us things about academia that nobody else does at this level. I’ve never been concerned about how my outward appearance or the way I carried myself would matter in meeting people or getting accepted into better colleges. He taught me about how to get in to graduate school and the politics behind that and what I could expect. Alexander Ross’ Account of the Fur Trade In the Pacific Northwest Alexander Ross spent much of his adult life working in the Pacific Northwest in the fur trade for both the Pacific Fur Trade Company and later the Northwest Company. Ross played a pivotal role in the establishment of Fort Astoria at the mouth of the Columbia River for the Pacific Company. After the War of 1812 Ross witnessed the collapse of the Pacific Company and began to work for the Northwest Company where he continued to work for the next three decades. Ross’ account of the first three years with the Pacific Fur Company titled Adventures of the First Settlers on the Columbia River offers a no-nonsense, first hand account of the trials and misfortunes of the first settlers
Born August 18, 1774; Meriwether Lewis was an American explorer, soldier, politician, public administrator, and the leader of the Louisiana expedition group known as the Corps of Discovery. During the first few years of his life, Meriwether grew up on his family’s estate in Ivy Creek, Virginia. After the death of Meriwether’s father in 1779, Meriwether’s mother Lucy Meriwether remarried to John Marks who later moved the family to Broad River Valley, Georgia in 1780. At his new home, Meriwether was influenced by his love for natural history and spent most of his time improving his skills as an outdoorsman, and it is said that he would go out hunting with his dogs at the age of eight. William Henry Harrison was the ninth president to serve in office. He was also the oldest president elected at the time and the first to die in office as well. Harrison was born into a well-connected family, and having his father and brother both to serve an important role in Congress, Harrison was bound to be a part of the “planter aristocracy” (American). Surprisingly, William originally went to college studying classics and medicines. William changed career paths and took up the military services before taking a role in the government (Bio).
In a lot of stories, the characters are what makes a “great story,” but most characters a very different from each other, just like in the three stories, The Sniper, The Most Dangerous Game and Harrison Bergeron. They all share the same trait. Even though the characters share the same trait, they differ in their own ways. A way the Characters all share a similar trait is that Rainsford, Harrison and The Sniper are all very “brave.” One way the Harrison is very brave is that he stood up against a government who kills and locks up people that are “over average” “(different or better than normal).”
Harrison, I believe, was a much focused president who was very strong in his opinions and was not afraid to lie to make people agree with him. He was a visionary, in the sense that he was looking toward the future and the opportunities of the future by expanding that country. He was a dedicated and decisive leader who made decisions for the good of the country, which were put into action well in advance. He was an open-minded president who supported minorities, such as women, African Americans, Native Americans, and Civil War veterans, because of who raised him and the opinions that influenced him.
Without prominent African American scientists during the early era of the Harlem Renaissance, music and writing from African Americans would have been only a small part of this rising of racial awareness. Scientists during this time have been mostly white and with the breakthrough of a few colored scientists, it stimulated the growth into adventuring into the science field. During the early 1920s, the age of a racial revolution came about in many fields of art, writing, and education. This time was coined as the Harlem Renaissance; this renaissance took on many forms way after the stock market crash in Wall Street on October 29, 1929, and the Dust Bowls of 1935.
Harrison Bergeron, society that 's place in the distant future where new laws and amendments are in effect. These amendment states that no person are different from one another; that everyone is smarter, stronger, or quicker than anyone else. To live in a society where everyone is the same under God, the talented and gifted people are required by law to be handicap. For which they must be downgraded to be equal to the average person. The beauty covered by a mask that hides an unchangeable characteristic from the unaccepting society.
Nature is around us, willingly or unwillingly, and it’s up to writers to be able to express their feeling for nature in any way possible. Different people have different ways of perceiving and interpreting nature. Some may view it as calming and peaceful, while others may perceive it as torturous. Nevertheless, the authors from the essay and the poem definitely have a good relationship with nature. As they describe in depth their feelings towards nature, it becomes more clear the differences that these authors have with their relationship with nature.

He is influential for many reasons, some being how machines for space exploration are built, also because of his many achievements and accomplishments, and for how his life story. Neil Armstrong has become a very influential person because he made a big difference to how machines are built for space exploration.
His fascination with trains at an early age inspired him, later to have a successful career throughout his lifetime. As a child I had a strong love and a passion for science. I believed that my strong fascination and drive to explore new things will carry me far in whatever future career I go. As a child, I was a timid and careful individual who never sought to take unnecessary risks. But, as I grew older I learned to challenge myself to try new experiences and by doing so I have had some of the best times of my life.
George Beadle George Beadle has an award named after him because of his work in genetics (Bay). Even though Beadle did not work alone, he was the person who was chosen to have an award named after them. George has been around many people throughout his life who have helped him make his achievements. Beadle grew up in a place that influenced him to make discoveries with many people, and those discoveries allowed Beadle to have a successful end to his life. All of George’s accomplishments started in Wahoo, Nebraska.
Religious Freedom in the United States Religious freedom looks differently in all different parts of the world. As a result, there are various ways in which one can view these freedoms. Democracy plays a huge role in the formation of religious rights in the United States. It not only gives individual rights, but it also protects and opens doors for groups whose beliefs are in harmony with each other. In fact, the U.S. is classified as one of the most “pluralistic countries in the world”(Smith).
