My biggest influence isn 't a relative or a celebrity, as it might be for most people. Mike Anderson, an author, photographer, and church leader, has had a major influence on me in several ways. He has shown me that my circumstances cannot dictate my happiness, that if I really want something in life I have to pursue it, and that faith is something that everyone has, regardless of their religious views. Like myself, he has had to face and overcome a wide variety of obstacles and trials and has become a stronger, wiser, and overall better citizen and human being because of it, and he has given me the strength and encouragement to never give up even when it seems like the odds and universe are against me.
I have led many club activities such as concession stands, volunteer services, and other community led activities. I have become a great leader to many of these kids as president of our school club, S-Club. I am in very good standing academically and known for my exceptional work ethic. I have matured with each of the trials and events I have encountered that have come my way during my senior year. The skills I have gained over the course of the year will help me towards my main career goal in mind, professional.
I hope to bring diversity to all who walk on the campus. My background has shaped me into the intelligent African American woman I am today. Without growing up in the “hood”, I may have not been able to find the best career that interested me. I also would not have been able over all the challenges thrown at me. Instead I remained determined and motivated so that I was able to achieve all of the goals set before me.
One individual that truly has influenced me is my former Pastor, but still spiritual partner... Prophetess Jackie Banks. Her early life was essentially an atrocity tainted by drug abuse, promiscuous sexual activities, larceny, and tons of interactions with our nation's criminal justice system. She took on a career of being a criminal, and endured it for over twenty years. Eventually while “roaming the streets” she encountered an evangelist, and from that moment shifted her ambitions from felonious to divine.

I have participated in Radio Broadcasting and learned that FFA could lead me to my goal of being a successful adult. Resident Assistants serve many purposes and play many roles in the community. They help to build and promote a supportive and active community within their residence hall and across the campus, and offer support and guidance to their residents. This aids in making Geneseo feel more like home and a community rather than simply a school. RAs enforce Geneseo and Department of Student Life rules, while also being a more easily accessible and less intimidating resource to other students in need of help. I want to be an RA so that I can become more involved in the Geneseo community in a positive way, by helping and representing other students.
Most of my surroundings were filled with people who are academically determined and I was immediately drawn to joining the outstanding group of students who represent the National Honor Society when I first heard about it. Knowing that I met the requirements to be put in this prestigious program thrills me. I think that over the course of my life, I have developed the qualities of leadership, scholarship, service, and character that make up the core values of the National Honor Society. I also believe that my time as a student ambassador on the LSUA campus and as a nursing student in clinical has allow me to gain the experience that I need in the leadership role. These are all qualities that I hope to bring with me if I am granted membership.
I was able to teach my teammates my skills so that they can be able to succeed and learn new skills that they can practice. Having a leadership quality has enabled me to be motivated and be able to achieve anything I start so that I can be able to complete it successfully. When being a supervisor, you have a lot of responsibilities that you need to take on every day with the people who work for you. It is important that the supervisor always oversees the jobs/activities that are being performed and making decisions on what to do.
