Reading is breathing for the mind. Being one of the most inexpensive and feasible hobbies out there, it is easy to do as all you need for this is a book and some time. Unlike some other hobbies, the habit of reading is very beneficial as it helps us to learn new things, new vocabulary and even improve our memory power. Reading helps us to broaden our understanding of the world as reading books will help us see things from the perspective of the author. It exposes us to new things as we learn about people we've never met, places we've never been to, and events that we were not a part of. Despite having so many advantages, the art of reading is slowly disappearing from our society. According to an article in the Time Magazine, the reading habits among teens have dropped off significantly in the past 30 years. In 1984, only 9% of 17 year old never read for pleasure but that number had tripled to 27% in 2014 (Alter). The Readers’ Association is dedicated to preventing this high decline. …show more content…

This association will do that, i.e. it will not only help people to develop passion for reading but will also help them maintain it. In order to do so, this organization will administer various games, challenges, and other activities throughout the year. For example, to develop reading habits, the new members will participate in a book reading competition exclusively for first time readers. They shall be sorted into groups where each group will have to read some predetermined books within a certain amount of days/weeks. After all, there's nothing like peer pressure to get people to do something. On the other hand, to ensure that reading habits are maintained, members will then be able to challenge each other to read a book of their choice within a certain amount of time. The members who complete the challenges will gain points and the member with the highest points will be awarded a prize at the end of the
