There is no disputing that digital technology plays a key function in education. Millions of students are utilizing personal computers, tablets and even smartphones to explore and fulfil assignments, connect with each other and with instructors about their classes and cooperate on school projects. But that still brings about plenty of room for discord on whether technology ought to play a major role in the classroom itself, explicitly, whether teachers should depend on digital implements such as projectors and interactive whiteboards for a substantial portion of their classroom instruction. In the eyes of tech-savvies, technology can be seen as influential, emboldening, appealing, and valuable necessity. Indeed, many educators also appreciate the great advantages to integrating technology in education. For instance, the conventional inert learning mold is shattered as the teacher becomes a learning facilitator, coordinating and enabling activities that trigger crucial moments for students. In effect, the student becomes the principal point of the classroom, learning like explorers such as mathematicians, scientists, and sociologists and designers such as authors, artists, and composers. In reality, instead of taking on a passive role of receiving information from the teacher; students take an active role in student-directed learning which builds knowledge collaboratively. The deconstruction of passive learning has proven to demonstrate a rise on the part of students to work cooperatively and provide peer tutoring. In fact, due to the limited quantity of functional PCs at my high school, collaboration was fostered among students working in small groups or pairs for projects. In brief, technology encourages autonomous learning for the students. Students become more accountable and take more control over their own learning. Although, the use of some lecture and note taking is needed to comprehend the information; teachers can use digital technology to enrich the curriculum. The computer can be used to present a new subject, employ it, or re-examine it for an examination or quiz. Teachers can use audio-visual websites, websites with self-assessments, and other databases complete with material to enhance a student’s education. Teachers can incorporate games via SMART boards to involve the students in collaborative learning. For instance, in secondary four, my history teacher prepared a Jeopardy game which included questions from the year’s curriculum, which aided in reviewing for the final exam at the end of the school year. In short, technology integration can also make lessons pleasurable and more
