Explorer Post Experience

I had known about the Mercy Flight Explorer post from way back when I was a Cub Scout, I remember them being at our events and I may have taken a few trips to their tent back then too. When I was a Cub Scout I didn't fully understand what the explorer post was, when I joined Boy Scouts however I realized the boys and girls in the post were not all that much older than me and I thought it was the coolest thing that they got to work in EMS at their age. Through my time at Boy Scouts the post was in the back of my mind and when I was ranked as a star I felt that I had gotten all that I needed from Boy Scouts and decided it was time to check out the explorer post. My first meeting was when we were training for competencies I honestly did not expect to get thrown in and get to do hands on stuff on my first day but I did. I felt welcomed and enjoyed talking to Isaiah as he taught me how to backboard and Lauren as she taught me IV set up. Over all had a great time my first meeting and couldnt wait to come back. I saw that the explorer post could and would teach me more about the medical field compared to anyother thing. The stories people told were truly amazing and seem like once in a lifetime experience. In my time in Portland I would hope to experience as much as possible ranging from intensive care to surgery or whatever may come through the door. Being interested in the medical field I would like to get as much exposure to it as possible. I have been exposed to the EMS section but have yet to experience the daily routine of a surgeon or nurse, and with experiencing something like that I may find that to be the specific field I would be interested in when I reach hiring
